Built on a promontory 750 metres above sea level, facing the Cheiron mountain range, Cipières overlooks the Loup Valley. Its castle, an imposing building overlooking the village, was restored in the 1950s, and puts on display a rich history from the thirteenth and eighteenth centuries. Cipières has long been known for growing wheat, and threshing areas are still visible in the village. Connu scrubland for its walking paths, Cipières is crossed by the great GR4 hiking trail which reaches the astronomical observatory Calern tray.
